reflection for term 4 week 7

Writing

I learnt in writing was to have more structure to my stories. I learnt about paragraphs that you need to have 6 sentences in a paragraph. A paragraph is a group of sentences about one main idea. why we learnt to use paragraphs is because they break up long chunks of writing, making it clearer and more interesting for the reader. What I found challenging in writing was to always proof and read my work because when I show some of my work to my parents they always find a mistake.  What I feel proud   that two teachers said that I have really improved this year in writing. What I will do next year make my writing goal to always proof and read my work.

Reading
I learnt in reading was to be more confident reading out loud to people. What I found challenging in reading was finding a book that I want to read. What I am proud of in reading is that in class I joined book club because it gives me a lot of support in reading. What I will do next year is to make my reading goal to read every single day for 30 minutes.

Maths
I learnt in maths was most of my times tables. What I found challenging was to be fast at my times tables. What I am proud of in maths is that I sometimes practise my maths goal. Next year I will change my maths goal to be faster at my times tables.

Without gravity

One weird day. I was playing with my lovely fluffy teddy bear. Having a fun time, dressing up my teddy. One beautiful fancy costume after another. I heard the sound of a huge THUMP! it sounded like a slow giant was walking on earth. I heard all these different sounds from up above. CRASH! Suddenly two house's smashed together and all the pieces of the two house were all over the ground.

I knew something bad had happened in New Zealand. All my girly precious objects started floating up in the sweet stuffy air. My belongings was under control. But suddenly I felt that the air was getting lazy. BUT I WAS FLYING! All these sounds was coming out of nowhere. THUMP! This time the thump was louder maybe the slow giant is coming closer. I was biting my lip now, I had no idea how to get out of this mess.

WALT write a perspective writing of a popcorn
I was the popcorn. In the pale white bowl, just lying with my fluff ball friends.It was bless and heaven. .Having a play in the bowl but suddenly this giant hand came right at me. Picked me up and took me to the most deepest, darkest hole. Around the hole were huge white sharp teeth as like knives shining in the sun light. I was so frightened! How was this hand so mean? I was just playing with my friends and now I'm going to a dark hole. The hand put me in the dark hole, licking all the sweetness and taste off me, suddenly I hear the sound of a human saying'' Mmm delicious'' and that was the end of my life.

On Friday 27 of October, they will be a grandparents day. So if you want to go to grandparents day, come to Oratia school in room 17 and 18. They will be a time table on of what you're doing at times. 9.00 to 9.30 everyone will plan their day in a Miss Maguire way. 9.30 to 10.00 the students will do their must dos. 10.00 to 10.30 you could share your pictures and stories with us when you were at school. 10.30 to 11.00 every student that has a grand parent gives them a walk around the school. So are you going to the awesome grand parents day.

WALT to write a detail recount about the 5 star production

Paragraph 1

I was biting my lip. Feeling sweaty in one room with thousands of people surrounding me.

I knew soon  that it was going to be our turn to go in the hall. Finally I heard the sound of

“ Room 17 and 18, please come outside and line up in your production lines." Walking in the hot

hall was a nightmare. I saw all these different faces. When I sat on the blue pattern floor,

I heard the muttering of people talking. Later I smelt the make up on the cast's faces- the show was on.

Paragraph 2

It was our turn to shine on stage. I was walking zombified on stage. Shining lights blinding my

eyes. Trying to spot my parents when I was doing my zombie actions like a scary robot. Finally I spotted them and they looked scared to death. Hearing the words 'Little luncheonette of Terror's gonna get ya,' to the beat of the zombie actions. Listening to the music made me turn into a zombie. I definitely thought that night that I was the scariest zombie.

Paragraph 3

After we did our zombified show they started my favourite exciting upbeat song. "When we do, we do the mango mambo. They'll all be dancing to my feet." I felt it was the most joyful happy song in the production. I saw the happy smiles and people dancing together on stage. Also room 17 and 18 were standing on the blue carpet and acting like they zombies dancing. I absolutely think we did a good job and room 24 did a good job too. I felt so proud.

Paragraph 4

The show was done -everything turned into custard because it was our last night doing this amazing musical 5 star show. I knew my parents would say 'Well done, Lucia" a thousand times. I knew I did the very best I could do with my crazy robot actions.That was the last time I was going to do a play at Oratia school. I felt proud of all the practice I'd done to be a part of this 5 star show. THANK YOU TO ALL THE TEACHERS THAT HELPED WITH THE PLAY!

the sadness lion in the world.

The elderly lion was tired, waiting to be rescued from his lonely life on the gloomy grasslands. The sad,dark sky started to cry but the lion was oblivious to the weather and did nothing but cry and feel lonely. Sadness darkened his day feeling nothing but scared and dumped. Wind whipped his blond hair waving it around. Full buckets of water patting on his damp head. Feeling a twist of sadness. 

Ow my tooth

WALT is to have more structure to this story.

I was munching on my apple but the apple didn't agree with me today. Ow!! my tooth. But I just kept on munching on my delicious juicy apple. Suddenly I stopped and felt my tooth and it was really wiggly now. Should I pull it out or leave it? umm.......
I think I should pull it out because-
1. Because of the money that I will get from the tooth fairy.
2. It would stop the pain from my tooth.
3. So it won't annoy me in the night.
Next I yanked it out with my hand but my hand wasn't strong enough to take it out. After that I twisted it back and forth also twisting it around. Until finally it popped out with blood bursting out of my gum as the pain faded away.

 I was in a hot stuffy shop, everyone looking at me. I had no idea what they were thinking about. Every night my lovely owner would clean me. One day this woman entered the shop through the door, looking at me, taking the weirdest look at me and my twin sister. I had no idea what this woman was thinking. My twin sister and I shared a look but then the next moment I was in a box, wondering what was going to happen. Was this just a magic dream? No. It was real. A few moments later I was chucked in a box and heard the sound of a slam. That very second I was moving. Something was going on.
I was picked up and then I saw this beautiful face with brown eyes and dark hair. I was so happy that this was going to be my life. I am going to call her Miss Beautiful Coles. Miss Beautiful Coles slid her soft foot into my body. It felt like a massage. Miss Beautiful Coles took her foot out and put me in her messy bag. When I looked to the side I saw a muddy shoe, a black and red shoe. Instead I wanted to see my twin sister. That I was hoping to see. One moment later Miss Beautiful Coles picked me up and put me on the white table with a little muddy shoe, the black and red rockstar shoe. Until I was on the white table I was amazed to meet these young new faces. I was hearing a lot of people saying"I want to write about the black and red shoe ;actually I want to write about the pink shoe.''Did you ask me to write about me? No. So you can't write about me. Oh on someone is writing about me. STOP READING RIGHT NOW!

why possums should die ?

WALT is to have structure to my speeches and for the teacher to see what level I am for speeches.

Dear Department of Conservation,
Why l am giving you this letter is because I want you to kill possums faster because possums are killing trees, native plants and birds. After I go to bed I hear something dancing on the roof. Disturbing my sleep and that's a possum. I don't want to to be disturbed by a possum in the night, Who does?. In the morning I wake up. Go to the deck and step in possum poo. Ew disgusting stepping in squishy possum poo. First thing in the morning. So my dad has to clean the poo all up and my dad doesn't want to clean it all up. So that's why we should stand up to possums and kill them. To tell them it is not ok to do that.

WALT was to try and make a poem in a different way. So what we did was everyone wrote  one sentence each.

Sticky lollipops send shivers down my spine. 

The lollipop popping in my sweet warm mouth melting away. 

 Ice cream dripping away dropping down on the floor. 

Candy is the sweetest thing in the world, that it glows in your mouth.

  why we are doing this today is to learn the colour schemes
Last week room 17 and 18 did some art.the WALT was to use the colour wheel. Each child made a background collage using colour schemes from the colour wheel. this art was made for  the background of our portraits. The first thing we did was to look at the colour wheel and all the colour schemes that were in it. there were many like light/dark, shades of the same colour, ranges of colours using 3 making the shape of a triangle on the colour wheel. four colours making the shape of a square in the colour wheel. steps were followed
1. choose a colour scheme.
2. rip or cut coloured pieces of paper.
3. glue coloured pieces of paper placed to cover all the backing card.
Reflection

• what I learnt in this process was to use the colour wheel and the colour schemes because the teachers taught me. How to do that. What I was proud in this process was that I finished the piece of art on time and that I didn't rush because if i rushed it I wouldn't have put much effort in it. what I found challenging was in this process was nothing because it was very basic and simple instructions

I was with Cassidy and Mackenzie doing the burma trail because I wanted to have an awesome time. We were screaming in horror at all the scary things. In the adventure at first I was walking peacefully thinking ‘’What’s so scary about a burma trail?’’

In the moonlight when the library is dead silent, the bird flutters down off the old fashioned bird shelf. The bird lands softly with a muffled thud and lies on the dusty carpet floor, waiting for the next day to arrive.

The two super heroes

Chapter 1

These two powerful old superheroes dreaming away in their sleep were fanatic about saving the world.Also there were impeccably dressed. These two old people are called Molly and George and had a lifetime of saving lives. Day after day they had battled the streets, fighting criminals that they loathe and protecting our people from the clutches of evil. Now, their lives are slightly less busy with crimes and danger and a bit drab as they have left saving the world to younger superheroes to battle the villians. They found it too gruelling and they feel no remorse. However, they still have the energy for missions but they are now old, tired, sleepy superheros nowadays. Ring ring the phone began to ring, waking up the superheros from their magical sleep. But finally they woke up with a shock and fright. George staggered across the musty grey mat with his pretty golden slippers shining. He grabbed the phone with his unsteady hand, wobbling and shaking in his cold hands. He put his hairy ear near to the red ruby  phone waiting for a voice to come out. Suddenly a young teenage voice was screaming for help saying, ‘Help help!! Joker is obliterating the city again with his evil villain plans and revolting potions.luring people into his sly traps. Please come soon to Oratia District school -please come in time! Good bye.’ Beep beep!! went the phone deafening George’s ear. So he dashed to Molly, deep in her sleep snoring away and woke her up to save the world.         

Alice in wonder land

Down, down, down Alice went, deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole dream. This had to be a dream. Feeling scared of wondering what would happen next. It seemed like she had been falling for hours as if time had slowed down.The fragments of dust and light filling the air. Alice opened her mouth to scream. Lots of echos repeat the same voice of a gentle scared little girl. She had screamed for her family, so they would save her. But they didn’t save little Alice from the never ending fall. The hot air of the dust mixed with books flowing into her mouth. She could almost taste the scent of the ancient books. Of course it was never ending, For hours she was sinking down in the thin air.The next moment Alice landed on the wetness of the muddy grass. She was looking up at a bright blue sky with blobs of white floating clouds.From the corner of her eye she caught sight of a house. It looked familiar.Forgetting how life was happy exciting bright and lots of laughs with her family, she staggered, struggling to stand up right. Daylight was fading and the moon was rising .Seeing the moon was a dream for Alice, always hoping to see the floating moon of a huge set zooming across the earth before 7.00pm, but she never did. Now her dream was came true in life.

Writing

This term in literacy I learnt that I have set up my spelling book really well so now it is easier for people to read. I am proud of this term in literacy that my handwriting is much neater because last year my handwriting was horrible so it is so easier to read my own work and to understand more. Also the teachers can read my writing now.I found challenging in writing was to make more interesting topics and stories . Because I don’t get many ideas in my head so I need more inspiration.Next term I will write more of my spelling words and word of the days in my writing books because then my stories will be better.

Maths

This term I learnt in maths some new strategies that Miss Coles taught the whole class- to use a positive number line and expanded place value partitioning. I am proud this term in maths with maths inquiry because it's fun and challenging at the same time. Also what I like in maths inquiry was how you get to do to the reflection in maths inquiry because you look back at it and you see how much you have learnt in the past. I found doing those two maths inquiry extensions (The Anna maths inquiry and Sir Edmund Hillary inquiry) challenging this term which was all about meters so it was pretty hard for me. Next term I will do the extensions to push my learning because I didn’t do those two extensions last term so next term I will do it.

Reading

This term what I learnt in reading was that David Walliams' books are really good for me to read because now I really like reading because of those books.This term what I found challenging was to become a more confident reader aloud to other people and that was my goal but l haven’t achieved it yet because we didn’t look at our goals at all because we were too busy. This term I am proud that I understand more words in books because of the words of the day and spelling words from Danks Davis and also spelling words in school. Next term I will read more to my Dad and myself at home and at school because that means I can spend more time practicing to be a more confident reader aloud to my Dad and other people.
